Chris Carpenter is a jazz-loving, trombone-playing, biological chemist and winemaker. Having earned his master’s degree in Viticulture & Oenology from the University of California at Davis he has forged a revered path in the Californian wine industry where he makes some of the most sought-after mountain appellation wines – Cardinale, Lokoya, La Jota and Mt. Brave. Today, Chris spends his time between California and McLaren Vale to oversee winemaking at the Hickinbotham Vineyard, driven by the opportunity to produce some of the most outstanding hillside red wines in the southern hemisphere.
